MITO Material Solutions Announces Grants Received from Federal and State Agencies for Product Development


August, 29, 2019, TULSA, OK — In honor of National Composites Week, MITO Material Solutions, the industry-leading nano-additive solutions provider, is pleased to announce it has received $1.1 million for product development funding from the National Science Foundation Small Business Innovation Research grant program (SBIR) and the State of Oklahoma through the Oklahoma Center for Advanced Science and Technology (OCAST) program. These grants will allow the start-up to continue with their push to manufacture hybrid nanoadditives that enable composite manufacturers to create lighter, tougher, and more durable products for the automotive, wind energy, aerospace, and transportation industries. 

Founded and led by husband and wife team, Kevin and Haley Keith, MITO Material Solutions’ mission is to help usher in a new era of manufacturing by enabling tougher, longer lasting products at an affordable price. Over the past year, operations have scaled to accommodate commercial sales of their patented technology.

Kevin Keith, Director of Product Engineering, says, “These grants will allow MITO to stay on the cutting edge as we enter the market with new innovations. Our goal this year is to increase the production of our current product to commercial capacity while developing and launching two new products. Our team is currently seeking corporate partners to work alongside in developing these products for market ready applications.”

The MITO technology is a chemically processed nanoadditive, hybridizing graphene oxide and POSS that disperses reactively in resin systems at a 0.1%/Wt concentration. MITO’s products are non-toxic, safe to handle and are engineered to integrate into common industry manufacturing processes including vacuum infusion, prepregs, hand layup and spray.
